After completing her post-graduation in Obstetrics and Gynecology, she underwent intensive raining in Ultrasound imaging at Sir H. N. Hospital, Mumbai. Her interest in endoscopy enabled her to obtain a Diploma in Pelvic Endoscopy from the Kiel and Giessen School of Endoscopic Surgery, Germany.
Areas of expertise: Genital TB, PCOS, Endometriosis, Endoscopy including operative laparoscopy and hysteroscopy for infertility related disorders. She has an in-depth expertise in various aspects of infertility treatment and has been invited as faculty in various conferences.
Her clinical skills have contributed to many smiles for couples on the path to parenthood and she says that their greatest reward is to see the happiness in infertile couples after successful treatment.

She is currently Honorary Consultant Geneticist in the Department of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics at Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre, Mumbai. She was instrumental in setting up the Genetics and PGD laboratory at Jaslok Hospital in the IVF department in 1999. She is also a Genetic Counselor.
After M.Sc. in Botany with specialization in cytology and genetics, she trained in human cytogenetics, the study of chromosomes at BJ Medical College, Pune (1973). She set up a Genetic clinic at Grant Medical College and Sir JJ Group of Hospitals, Mumbai (1974) where she obtained Ph.D. She relocated to Baroda with her husband and set up another genetic laboratory at SSG Hospital in 1979. On returning to Mumbai, she was a Research Officer at the Institute for Research in Reproduction (1982). During the long break in her career for family reasons, she worked as a music teacher in her children’s schools. She joined the Genetic Research Centre (ICMR), at Wadia Hospital, Mumbai and later worked in a private genetic laboratory.
At Jaslok Hospital, besides karyotyping on various tissues, she introduced the FISH technique as a rapid diagnostic test in India in 2001 for disorders ranging from infertility to cancer after a short training in USA..
She was one of two representatives from Asia on the International System for Human Cytogenetic Nomenclature (ISCN) standing committee from 2007-2011.
Dr. Madon is invited as faculty at many national conferences and has presented papers at international ones.
The first live-births in India after PGD by FISH for translocations and inversions were reported by the team from the Department of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics.
She was presented the Prof. I. C. Verma Lifetime Achievement award (2020), the Young Scientist award (1980) and the LTMT Senior Research Scholarship (1974-77).
She plays the Piano and enjoys spending time with her grand-daughter.

Dr. Arundhati has a Masters in Life Sciences with specialization in Biotechnology from Ramnarayan Ruia College and a PhD. in Applied Biology from Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre (JHRC) through Mumbai University. She joined the State-of-the-Art “Genetics and PGD Lab” since its inception in 1999. She is responsible for developing most of the diagnostic tests that are performed in the Genetics Lab. A keen academician, she has participated as a teacher and a participant in many national and international training courses on karyotyping, FISH, PCR, stem cells and Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT) and had standardized many techniques for routine diagnostics. She was part of the IVF-Genetics team responsible for the first live births in India using PGT by FISH for aneuploidies, translocations, inversions and cryptic rearrangements, PGT-M for BRCA-1. She was part of the team to standardize the diagnosis of Periodic Fever Syndromes in the Genetics Lab with the collaboration of Dr. Ivona Askentijevich from the National Human Genome Research Institute, USA.
She is working as Head, Genetics Lab and Molecular Cytogeneticist with more than 23 years of experience. She is responsible for >14 completed and ongoing projects as co-investigator, Her work involves diagnostics as well as research involving Assisted Reproductive Techniques and cytogenetics as well as Molecular Techniques. She is also working as a genetic counselor for preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) and other Genetic Disorders. She has to her credit more than 30 articles in national and international journals, more than 75 abstracts for various oral presentations and posters, 8 book chapters as first author and co-author. An expert in Pre Implantation Genetic Testing (PGT), she is regularly invited to give talks on Genetics and PGT at conferences and training courses.
She has helped to set up the diagnostic testing of autoinflammatory diseases and periodic fever syndromes first time in India with the help of Dr. Ivona Askentizavitch from USA.
She has been awarded several prizes for posters presented in different conferences. She is the recipient of the Amar Gandhi Foundation Award for being an “Outstanding Researcher” for the year 2007 at JHRC. She was awarded a certificate by ICMR for her contribution to the 'Phase II trial of Use of Convalescent Plasma during the COVID-19 pandemic' in August 2020. She is also recipient of “Jaslok Achiever” in 2021. Her team was awarded “Excellence in NABH audit” by JHRC in June 2019. She was part of the team in which the Department of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics was ranked First in India, Western Zone and Mumbai as Best IVF Centre in the Times of India Surveys for 5 consecutive years 2016-2017, 2017-2018, 2018-2019, 2019-2020 and first in Mumbai and Western Zone, second in India in 2020-2021. The Department also received the ET Healthcare Fertility Awards for IVF Icon, Best IVF Centre (National), Most Integrated IVF Team (National) in October 2019.

Dr. Sona B. Nair is currently working as a Senior Scientific Officer in the Genetics Lab of Department of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics at Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre, Mumbai. She has set up and is in charge of the molecular biology diagnostic testing for thalassemia, sickle cell anemia, for fertility management (Y chromosome microdeletions detection, MTHFR and prothrombin mutation analysis), autoinflammatory disorder detection (first time in India) in the Genetics Lab.
She had started her career as a Research Officer at National Institute of Immunohematology (NIIH) (ICMR), Parel, Mumbai (1996-2013) where she has worked under the Human Genome programme for the molecular characterization of hematological disorders and also persued her M.Sc and Ph.D. (2005). She has a work experience of 24 years (14 years of Post-doctoral experience) in research field in numerous projects entailing blood disorders like thalassemia, sickle cell anemia, hemophila and von Willebrand disease, platelet function related disorders, thrombotic disorders, human platelet alloantigens, platelet activation in myocardial infarction, auto inflammatory disorders also including the Jai Vigyan Phase- II project for the establishment of antenatal screening and prenatal diagnosis at regional centres for the diagnosis of thalassemia and sickle cell anemia.
Her major achievements include detecting novel mutations in the autoinflammatory disorders and the platelet disorders which has been registered in the GenBank database, Infevers mutation database and the Glanzmann Thrombasthenia database respectively.
She was the recipient of the Sanofi Doctoral Fellowship (France) to work as a visiting research assistant at Mt. Sinai Hospital, New York (1997-1998) on the rare inherited platelet disorders in India. She had received the Lady Tata Fellowship (1998-1999) and Senior Research Fellowship (ICMR.) (2001-2004) for the study on platelet and complement system. She has received the Jaslok Achiever award for March 2019 in recognition of outstanding excellence, superior performance and accomplishment for exceptional job performance.
She has received the Women researcher award in 1st international scientist awards on Engineering, Science and Medicine held in July 2019, Bangalore. She has received Dr. J. C. Patel award for detecting a novel mutation in an Indian Glanzmanns Thrombasthenia patient at the 40th Annual Conference of Bombay hematology Group.
