Kunal and Khyati approached us to help their daughter Kayra who was suffering from a lethal haemoglobin disease called Beta Thalassemia Major. They were both carriers for beta-thalassemia mutations. They had heard about PGT with HLA matching and bone marrow transplant for a cure.
The couple underwent 3 IVF-ICSI-PGT cycles to get one chromosomally normal, beta thalassemia unaffected, and HLA-matched embryo. Khyati conceived on the first attempt and delivered an ordinary healthy boy. Two years later, his bone marrow stem cells were used for transplantation for Kayra. The transplant has successfully freed Kayra of multiple transfusions, hospitalisations and chelations. Having beaten Thalassemia, Kayra is ready to lead a long and healthy life.
